On the planet Ziad, it is anything but peaceful. The six elemental nations are at war and are using the powers of their nation's crests (large coin-like objects) to ravage the lands. In the tiny island of Gel, home to the shape shifting Gellians, a boy named Dirox is the sole survivor of a raid of his village of Crest Gate which was ordered by the tyrannical shadow King, Aghoney. Gifted in shifting, the power to control the particles of his body at will, he sets off with nothing but an old, rust sword given to him by his grandfather, Rito, who took care of Dirox since he was an infant orphaned by a similar raid. With sword in hand, Dirox travels the world to find the six crests and the Crest Sword, a blade which can cut shadows themselves.
